My name is Melissa and a family and wedding photographer based in Perth, Western Australia.

Along with being passionate and curious, I'm a people person. I love people, always have and always will.

I'm the mother of my amazing Sonny and Ivy. Being a mother has taught me so much, it's my best role yet.

I have no formal higher education, traveling the world has been my greatest teacher.

I love to cook, I'm in love with food. I take great pride in what I cook and especially what I feed my children. My cooking is another way to show love to the people around me.

I find the humanity equally fascinating and frustrating. I care deeply about our planet and how we treat it.

I love going for coffee. When I lived in Italy I realized that it wasn't just something I liked doing, it is in my DNA.

I love cities they fascinate me.

The back story

Back in April 2015 our little family moved from Perth, Western Australia, to Waipukurau, New Zealand so that our children could get to know their kiwi family. I really wanted to capture our journey and so my 365 project was born named 'The Sun Makes the Ivy Grow', named after my children Sonny and Ivy. This project opened my eyes to a whole new way of taking pictures and I soon realised that sitting back and documenting was what I do best.

It's now 2019 and I continue to document my children on a regular basis. I do it because it brings me so much joy to watch them learn and grow and I want them to be able to look back on their childhood in great depth. I only wish I could look back on my childhood in the same way.

So now I want share this with other families. I want you to get the same joy out of photos that I get.

If there is one thing I know (as many do) is that children grow like wild fire. Seriously you blink you miss it. And I say to all you parents out there, do this now, grab some photos of family life now because it will disappear and the memories will fade but you will always have these images to look back on.
